The Monza vs AC Milan match was held at the U-Power Stadium, Wednesday (9/8) night IST. This is a special match because both teams were owned by Silvio Berlusconi during his lifetime.
Milan opened the scoring in the 29th minute through Christian Pulisic. Milan got a penalty after Pulisic was fouled by Danilo D’Ambrosio.
Pulisic stepped up to take the spot-kick. His penalty kick was parried by the Monza goalkeeper, but Pulisic then pounced on the rebound to score.
Monza levelled the scores in the 32nd minute. Andrea Colpani found Mike Maignan’s net with a left-footed shot from inside the box that flew in off the far post.
The 1-1 draw lasted until normal time ran out. The winner of this match had to be decided on penalties.
In the penalty shootout, Milan won 6-5 over Monza. Milan won after Samuele Birindelli’s penalty hit the crossbar.
AC Milan will still have two more trial matches before Serie A 2023/2024 starts. The Rossoneri will start the Italian League away to Bologna on 21 August.
