The mother of Cape Verde national team goalkeeper Vozinha is set to travel to the United States to watch her son play at the 2026 World Cup. This development follows the intervention of the U.S. State Department and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who ensured that she would receive a visa in time for Cape Verde’s match against Uruguay in Miami.

Previously, Vozinha had shared that his mother could not attend the earlier match against Spain due to visa complications and financial issues related to a security deposit. This situation garnered significant public attention and highlighted the challenges faced by families of international athletes.

The obstacles have now been resolved, with the required fees waived according to official policy. Travel arrangements for Vozinha’s family are currently being finalized, as confirmed by the State Department.

This is a particularly meaningful moment for the 40-year-old goalkeeper, who emerged as one of Cape Verde’s standout players during the tournament, notably helping the team secure a remarkable draw against Spain.
