Barcelona Sets Sights on Marcus Rashford’s Future Amid Successful LaLiga Title Win
Following Barcelona’s wrapping up of the 2025/26 LaLiga title, the club’s focus now shifts to its transfer strategy, particularly regarding Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan from Manchester United.
During his time in Spain, Rashford has made 48 appearances, achieving notable statistics with 14 goals and 11 assists across all competitions. His loan at FC Barcelona has proved beneficial, as Rashford is reported to be “happier than he has been for a long time.”
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona values Rashford and he is also inclined to remain. However, a summer transfer is expected to be complicated due to the club’s financial situation.
Rashford reportedly agreed to terms for a three-year contract if he stays at Barcelona ‘months ago,’ but the club is hesitant to finalize a short-term deal due to amortization concerns.
The proposed solution is for Rashford to sign a five-year deal while maintaining his current salary. This approach would spread the transfer fee over five years rather than three, helping the club adhere to LaLiga’s financial regulations.
In April, Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick indicated there is still a chance for Rashford to return to Old Trafford, stating, “There’s decisions to be made on certain things, and obviously Marcus is in that situation. But at this point in time, nothing’s been decided.”
“It will be, because it has to be at a certain point, but at this stage, there’s nothing to say.”
As the transfer window approaches, possible scenarios are becoming clearer. With both Barcelona and the player content, a permanent deal could benefit all parties involved. Nonetheless, the possibility of Rashford returning to Manchester United next season under new permanent manager Michael Carrick remains a compelling narrative that should not be overlooked.
